Is it possible to create a system of transport the teachers, living in the Columbus area, of Ohio Wesleyan University to and from school efficiently? Is it possible to use a similar transportation system around campus for the students benefit?
Some information that I would need to find out is the location of the different teachers in the Columbus area. I need to find what time the transportation system would need to arrive to pick up the teachers and if it would pick them up individually or if it would show up at a specific location to pick them up, at a sort of bus stop. Another thing I would need to find is how much it would cost to transport the professors to and from school on a daily basis. (gas cost, cost of vehicles) I could also look into how many vehicles we could use, this would help when picking up teachers that live in different parts of Columbus.
The mapping data should be no problem to find. I can just use a map of the Columbus area and a directory of all professors that live in the area. Mapping this data will be easy. I can also map potential routes running from campus to the Columbus area and back to campus. Finding the cost may be a bit harder. To find how much it will cost to drive to and from the Columbus area each day will be difficult. A solution will be comparing this shuttle to other shuttle services that provided similar services. The cost of a driver will also be another piece of data that will need to be addressed.
I will have to find out how many teachers will actually take advantage of the shuttle system because there will be no point to have one if no one, or a substantial amount of individuals will use it. Most efficient routes will also need to be mapped. For example quickest, least fuel consumptive route to hit all pick-up locations will need to be decided. Travel for students will also need to be discussed.
Creating a map of potential routes will be the easiest method of showing process being made.

I noticed your blog. Don’t forget a lot of non-faculty people from OWU live in the Columbus area. There are four of us in the University Communications Dept. — Powell, Hilliard, Northwest Cols/Linworth, Upper Arlington.
Just thought you might want to widen your scope on who you ask.

Thanks for your input. I think I will survey the entire OWU staff, not only professors, to see who would be interested in taking advantage of this shuttle system.
