Chapter 4 of the Schuurman reading discusses bringing all at data together into one set model. Deciding on which model that you want to use when mapping your data is a huge deal. Deciding what you want to get through to your readers and in the clearest sense is what needs to be decided.

Chapter 5 further discusses the relationship between GIScience and GISystems. This chapter focuses on the next step in becoming more familiar with the ArcGIS software. It discusses the different training that one could partake in to become more comfortable with the software if they are interested in furthering their GIS experience.

Schuurman Chapters 2-3

chapter 2 in the Schuurman book discusses the distance between Human Geography and GIS itself. The Difference between the human geography and GIS is the fact that GIS is very technological while human geography is methodological. The human geographers spend a good amount of time trying to find out problems with the GIS software.

This chapter also discusses epistemology and ontology. Epistemology is the methods used to study the world, and the lenses they entail. While ontology refers to what something really is in a physical sense.

Chapter 3 of the Schuurman book discusses collection, representation, and standardization of data. The use of satellites in collecting data is very common. with the help of satellites helps get a better angle on the geography of the entire world rather than just small parts. and of course with the more satellites the more data that can be collected.

Organizing data is very important as well. If the data is not organized in a way that makes sense then it will be almost impossible for a reader to be able to understand what you are trying to get at with your data. When organizing you can organize you data into location, scale, by using an attribute table, and numerous other ways.

Delaware Address Pts (master file)- This file maps all of the addresses in Delaware County. Most of the density is located in the southern parts of the county and the central part of the county.

Delaware Annexations (Annexation file)- This data set was created to facilitate the process of locating annexations and conforming boundaries within Delaware County.

Delaware Archaeological (arch c file)- This data file shows the different locations of different archaeological findings in Delaware County.

Delaware Bench Marks (gps file)- This file shows the location of all of the surveying bench marks in Delaware County.

Delaware Building Outlines (bldg outline 06 file)- This dataset consists of building outlines for all structures (as of April 2006) in Delaware County.

Delaware Census Block (block file)- This file shows the different borders of the entire area of Delaware County in which the census is taken.

Delaware Census BlockGroup (block group file)- larger boundaries that aid in obtaining the census of Delaware County.

Delaware Census Tract (tract file)- This file shows the different tracts located in Delaware County to aid in obtaining the census.

The landmarks include: Bldg1_base, a point coverage containing Hospital/Urgent Care, EMS, Fire Departments, Township Halls, Township Halls/Fire Departments and Fairgrounds/Track.. Bldg2_base, a point coverage containing County Buildings, City Buildings, State Buildings, Weight Stations, Interstate Rest Areas, Libraries, Interstate Exit # 131 and Interstate Exit # 121.. Cemetery_base the different cemeteries found in Delaware County. Golf Courses_base the different golf courses found in Delaware County. Chapter 16 discusses how to delete and modify different features already placed in different maps. We also learn how to split and merge different features as well. Finally we learn how to edit the values of different attributes of that are within our maps.

Getting to Know ArcGIS Chapter 15

in Chapter 15 we learn how to edit different features on the maps with the editing toolbar. With this toolbar we learn how to link different points to each other. THere are also different construction tools that we can use as well.

Getting to Know ArcGIS Chapter14

Chapter 14 did not completely match up with the software that we are using which made it difficult to complete. But this chapter discussed creating personal geodatabases. We also learned that we can import and export data from one format to another. THis chapter also discusses adding fields and domains.

In chapter 13 we learn how to correct data that has been mapped slightly incorrectly by defining certain projections. WE aslo learn how to project different types of data such as maps of different countries.

Getting to Know ArcGIS Chapter 12

In chapter 12 we learn how to put a buffer zone around specific points on our maps with the help of ArcToolbox. We also learn how to use the field calculator to calculate different attributes on our maps. We also learn how to deal with overlying data; how to put some data on top of other data.

Getting to Know ArcGIS Chapter 11

In chapter 11 we are introduced to the ArcToolbox and some of the different functions that are in it. We also learn how to create our own graphs with the help of the Graph Wizard.
